Strengthening Public-Private Cooperation
for the Success of Gumi’s Specialized Semiconductor Complex.
K&P Co., Ltd. participated as a member company in the “Gumi Semiconductor Industry Council General Meeting and Project Briefing Session” held on June 18 at Hotel Geumosan.
Co-hosted by Gumi City and the Semiconductor Industry Council, the event served
as a key platform for sharing the future vision of Gumi’s semiconductor
industry and facilitating dialogue on industrial policy.
The event was attended by prominent
figures including Yang Geum-hee, Vice Governor of Economic Affairs of
Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, city and provincial council members,
Council Chairman Baek Hong-joo (CEO of WONIK QnC), and Moon Chu-yeon, President
of the Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute. Over
100 participants were present, including representatives from 40 member
companies—K&P Co., Ltd. among them—as well as academic and research
institutions.
General Meeting & Policy Briefing
Highlights
In Part 1 of the event, the Council's
regular agenda items were addressed, followed by a survey conducted among
member companies. This survey aims to identify on-site difficulties and policy
demands, and will be used to set priorities for future support initiatives.
Part 2 featured project briefings,
beginning with Lee Hyun-kwon, Head of the Gyeongbuk-Gumi Semiconductor
Specialization Complex Promotion Task Force, who presented the current progress
of the project.
Following this, Kim Yong-nam, Director at the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL),
introduced two key national projects selected by the Ministry of Trade,
Industry and Energy:
▶ Establishment of an Advanced Semiconductor Materials and Components Testing & Evaluation Center
▶Development of a Validation Platform for Defense System Semiconductor Components
These projects are critical national
initiatives designed to strengthen Gumi's industrial foundation and strategic
role in Korea's future semiconductor sector.

By participating in this general
meeting, K&P Co., Ltd. reaffirmed its dedication to staying at the
forefront of industrial change as a member of the Semiconductor Industry
Council, while also strengthening ties within the Gumi semiconductor ecosystem.
Council Chairman Baek Hong-joo emphasized, “Through close cooperation among member companies, we will strive to make Gumi a true hub of the semiconductor industry.”
Mayor Kim Jang-ho added, “This general meeting marks a turning point where the
needs of industry are translated into policy. We will fully support the
establishment of the specialized complex and the growth of advanced
industries.”
K&P Co., Ltd. will continue to
actively contribute to the development of the regional industrial ecosystem
through technological competitiveness in semiconductors and advanced
components, as well as expanded collaboration among industry, academia, and
research sectors.
