[Safety] On-Site Visits and Meeting Held to Share Safety Design Achievements

On August 6, 2026, K&D Co., Ltd., K&E Co., Ltd., and K&P Co., Ltd. hosted a series of on-site visits and a meeting to review the outcomes of safety design initiatives and discuss ways to expand their application.

The event was attended by officials from the Engineering Design Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR), the Occupational Safety Standards Division of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL), and the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), as well as representatives from Gamseong Plan, a professional design firm. Representatives from K&P and K&E also participated.

The program began with brief introductions to K&D, K&E, and K&P, including overviews of their respective operations and facilities. K&E then presented the implementation process, key improvements, and outcomes of the Tailored Safety Service Design Support Program in which it participated in 2023.

Through the program, K&E reviewed workplace hazards and its safety information system and implemented the following improvements:

•Enhanced visibility of emergency evacuation routes

•Installation of evacuation maps that clearly indicate the viewer’s current location and evacuation directions

•Clear separation of forklift routes and pedestrian walkways

•Establishment of a Safety Control Center that brings together fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and personal protective equipment in one clearly identifiable location

 These improvements have made emergency evacuation routes and safety equipment easier to identify. The clear separation of pedestrian walkways and forklift routes has also contributed to a safer working environment. Employees responded positively, noting that the safety signs and designated traffic routes are now much easier to recognize.

 Following the presentation, participants held a meeting to discuss the effectiveness of safety design in the workplace and potential approaches for its wider adoption.

 Participants emphasized the need for standardized safety design solutions that can be used across different workplaces. They also noted that standardized solutions should be combined with expert on-site consulting and tailored safety service design programs involving the direct participation of employees, as working conditions and hazards vary from one site to another.

The companies also conveyed the need to expand program budgets and eligibility so that more businesses can participate. They further recommended follow-up support to inspect, maintain, and improve installations after the initial project has been completed.

 K&E has continued to share the experience and key outcomes gained through the 2023 Tailored Safety Service Design Support Program. Its case was presented at an Occupational Safety and Health Council meeting in which K&P participates with LG Innotek.

 Whenever customers and business partners visit the facility, K&E also provides guided tours of the safety design installations and explains the improvements and their impact. These ongoing efforts have helped affiliated companies and business partners better understand the value and effectiveness of safety design. They also contributed to the expansion of K&E’s safety design practices to K&P and K&D.

 After the meeting, participants toured K&E’s facility to inspect the improvements implemented through the 2023 program.

The tour covered key installations, including the Safety Control Center, where fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, AEDs, and personal protective equipment are organized in one location. Participants also reviewed the improved evacuation maps and emergency evacuation routes, as well as the clearly separated pedestrian walkways and forklift routes.

 Participants then visited the K&P and K&D facilities, where safety design elements were introduced based on K&E’s experience and achievements. They reviewed safety information systems and visual guidance for emergency medical and firefighting equipment, each adapted to the specific conditions and characteristics of the respective workplaces.

 The tour also included an employee lounge improvement project. The lounge had originally been identified for improvement during the 2023 support program but could not be renovated at the time because of budget limitations. The renovation was subsequently completed in 2025 with support from a Gumi City program and the company’s own investment.

 In addition, AEDs and blood pressure monitors provided through LG Innotek’s Large-Small Business Occupational Safety and Health Partnership Program were installed in employee lounges and other accessible locations. These improvements created a more comfortable working environment that supports not only workplace safety but also employee health, rest, and recovery.

 The visits and meeting provided a valuable opportunity to review the results of K&E’s safety design initiatives and observe how its experience and achievements have been shared with and extended to K&P and K&D.

 K&D, K&E, and K&P will continue to develop and share proven safety design practices while working to foster safer workplaces and a strong safety culture in which employees can work with confidence.

 In particular, K&P Plant 2, which was selected for the 2026 Standard Safety Design Program, plans to successfully implement safety design solutions suited to its workplace based on the experience and feedback shared during the event.
